Prof. Dr. Kriengsak Chareonwongsak

Prof. Dr. Kriengsak is a Senior Fellow at Harvard University, USA; an elected member of the Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Association Board of Directors; and a Fellow, at Said Business School, University of Oxford. Professor Kriengsak was a Parliament, Vice Chair of the Economic Development Committee in the House of Representatives. Currently, he is President of the Institute of Future Studies for Development, (IFD); and as a businessman, is Chairman of Success Group of Companies, a conglomerate of businesses, diversified into many fields of investment. He also chairs the Lao-Thai Business Corporation. In 1981 he graduated from Monash University, Australia with First Class Honours, and an Economics PhD. He obtained a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University, USA; and holds a Master of Studies in Social Enterprise & Community Development, from Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge, UK; having also completed Post doctoral studies at the University of Oxford, UK.

He has held various university teaching positions. He is an Eminent Member of the Education Council on Standard and Quality Assurance, of the Office of the National Education Commission, and has also filled fifty other positions in a number of national organizations and committees; for example he was advisor to the President of the National Assembly and advisor to many Ministers in various governments. He was an elected member of the National Economic and Social Advisory Council (NESAC), a constitutional body that advises the Thai cabinet, and was Chairman of NESAC's Education, Religion, Arts, and Culture Commission, as well as Vice Chairman of the NESAC Economic, Commerce, and Industry Commission. He is the author of two hundred books. He is a popular radio and TV commentator and a newspaper and magazine columnist, discussing political and economic issues of current concern. His perspectives are often highlighted in interviews both in Thailand and overseas.
